Green School

The Green Group

Welcome to the Green school’s page.

Who are we and what do we do?

We are pupils who represent their class on the Green Group committee. We meet once every half term and are responsible for the ‘green issues’ within our school.

Here we are!

Celt 3a4 Mrs Ffion Hughes
Emma 3a4 Miss Catrin Morris
Paige 3a4 Mrs Sheena Dorkins
Guto Huw 5a6 Mrs Fiona Roberts
Morgan 5a6 Mrs Mari Lois Hughes
Taylor May 5a6 Mrs Helen V Jones

Our main areas are –

Choices and decisions; Climate change; Consumption and waste and The Natural environment.

Within these areas we are attempting to raise the awareness of the children, staff and community, that their choices and decisions can affect the environment. We also discuss climate change and we study how animals and birds are affected by the seasons.

We aim to reduce the amount of energy used by the school and we are working with Gwynedd Council on this project. We are also eager to reduce the amount of traffic that travel to the school and encourage children to walk or cycle and for the staff to car-share. We also aim to learn about renewable energy sources in the local area and beyond. As a committee we value the importance of recycling and re-using and are dedicated to this cause.

We also have a wild garden in which we have created a habitat for local wildlife. We also plant fruit, vegetables and herbs which we occasionally sell.

As a school we are proud to have been awarded the Gold status by the ‘Gwynedd Green Schools’.
